Trouble Maker |
Frills-free,
mad-dog barking hardcore punk from Northern California. It’s been so long
since I’ve heard a band like this, that I almost forgot what ‘hardcore’ –
the 80’s version- actually sounds like. Trouble Maker sound a
little like Fear and a little like Agnostic Front, but
mostly they sound like fists landing in stomachs and beer bottles
shattering over skulls. Occasionally, as on the fiery “Self-Destruct”,
they toss in a few slithery rock n’ roll licks, but mostly, Trouble
Maker are content to just pummel and scream and beat yr face in with
rough-ass punk rock. Virtually every track here involves bloodshed in one
way or the other, and in most of their pictures, Trouble Maker are
actually bleeding, so my guess is, they’re the real fuckin’ deal.
Songwise, the catchy, speedball, old-skull ‘core of “Bad Attitude”
(“Fuck you, fucking fuck!”) and the gonzo street punk of “Flame Thrower”
appear to be the most likely to kickstart a riot, but it’s not like the
rest of the record is ballad-heavy, or nothin’. If you dig punk the way it
sounded back when it sounded like dangerous, street-fighting PUNK,
then the aptly named Trouble Maker is gonna knock you flat. Literally, if
ya get too close. ____________________________________________________ |
